On the road to Sighisoara, traffic came to a sudden halt. For a couple of hours we waited for the accident to be cleared away. It gave me a chance to have a long talk with the surveyor in the next car. Having worked in Germany, he found great differences between the work ethics of the Germans and the Romanians. Now, with his own small firm, he found it difficult to get workers to perform when not under direct supervision and he reported that showing up on time was difficult for them.
